A private chef sounds like a splurge — until you do the math on takeout, delivery fees, and your Tuesday-night grocery hunt. For $300 a visit, we cook 4–6 restaurant-quality Chinese dishes in your kitchen and leave the fridge stocked for the week. No apps, no tips, no dishes.
How it works
1. Consult. 15-min tasting call. We learn your household, dietary needs, spice level, kitchen setup, delivery day. No obligation.
2. Menu. Every Thursday by 6 PM we text and email your custom menu. Approve, tweak, or swap dishes with one reply.
3. Cook. Chef arrives cook day and cooks 3–4 hours in your kitchen. You do nothing. Groceries via Instacart/Weee! (default) or add $50 chef shopping.
4. Clean. Every meal portioned into glass containers with reheat instructions. Kitchen returned better than we found it.

- 红烧肉 · Shanghai Red-Braised Pork Belly — rock sugar + Shaoxing braise, 3 hrs (contains soy). Reheat: steam 8 min.
- 肉末蒸蛋豆腐 · Steamed Egg Tofu with Minced Pork — silken egg tofu, garlic-scented pork (contains soy, egg). Reheat: steam 5 min.
- 蒜蓉小白菜 · Garlic Baby Bok Choy — blanched then flash-fried, oyster sauce (contains soy). Reheat: quick sauté 2 min.
- 冬瓜排骨汤 · Winter Melon Pork Rib Soup — slow-simmered pork broth. Reheat: simmer 5 min.

How groceries work
Option A · $0 (default): You place the Instacart / Weee! order from our list. No markup, no surprise fees.
Option B · +$50 flat: We shop (Chinatown + HMart + 99 Ranch) and arrive with everything cold-chain intact. You reimburse receipts at cost within 48 hrs.
Deposit: 50% at booking, 50% at end of cook session. Weekend/holiday +25%. Cancellation ≥72h = full refund.

Trained in home-style regional Chinese cooking with a focus on Jiangnan (Shanghai / Suzhou / Hangzhou) and Cantonese techniques.

Common questions
Do I need to be home while you cook?
No. Most clients leave a key with the doorman or use a smart lock. We photograph the finished fridge and clean kitchen when we leave.
Who buys the groceries?
You do (default) — via Instacart or Weee! from our list, no markup. Or add the $50 Grocery Run fee and we'll arrive with everything ourselves at receipt cost.
How do you handle kitchen cleanup?
Every visit ends with a cleanup checklist: all cookware washed and put away, stovetop and counters sanitized, trash and recycling out, floor swept. Your kitchen looks better than when we arrived.
What if I have allergies or someone in my household does?
We capture every allergen at intake and cross-check the weekly menu against your household's list before we cook. Big 9 allergens are labeled on every container.
How long do the meals stay fresh?
3–5 days refrigerated, depending on the dish. Every container has a Use by date and reheat instructions. Braises freeze beautifully for another 30 days.
Do you offer postpartum (月子餐) plans?
Yes — our Tier 2 plan ($450/visit) is designed around the traditional 30–42 day 月子 recovery: warming, low-sodium, low-oil, no shellfish, no cold foods. Customized weekly by your postpartum stage.
What kind of Chinese food do you cook?
Primarily Jiangnan (Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou), Cantonese, and Northern home-style. We skip heavy Americanized takeout dishes (no General Tso, no sweet-and-sour).
What if I need to skip a week?
Pause any time — free, no charge. We just don't come that week.
Do you cook spicy food?
Default menu is entirely non-spicy. Chili oil / doubanjiang available on request — flag your spice tolerance at intake.
What's your cancellation policy?
≥72h before cook day: full refund. <72h: 50% deposit non-refundable. Same-day emergencies: full credit toward next visit.
